Kate Everts Honored
Kate Everts was among the honorees at the 40th annual Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association of Delaware (FVGAD) Awards Banquet in January where she received the FVGAD Distinguished Service Award. She was honored for her 22 years of service as an Extension plant pathologist for Maryland and Delaware. She was recognized for her translational research program. Her work includes research on use of cover crops to suppress diseases and focuses on the pathogens Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. nivem, and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. She also leads a program that delivers disease forecasting targeting watermelon and other cucurbit, potato and tomato diseases, that has benefited vegetable farmers throughout the region.
