Landscape Architecture Faculty Member Receives International Award

Victoria Chanse, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, was recognized with the 2015 Excellence in Service Learning Award from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA)(link is external). Chanse received this prestigious award Friday, March 27th during CELA’s conference held at Kansas State University.

CELA is comprised of programs of higher learning in landscape architecture in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Each year the council honors up to two faculty members for accomplishments in the area of outreach or service-learning education. Chanse received the junior level (3 to 10 years of experience) service learning award for her work on sea level rise design and planning investigations on Maryland’s Eastern Shore that involved graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. She was also recognized for leading students in projects focusing on social and design dimensions of stormwater management in Washington, D.C. and areas of Maryland.
