LARC/PLSC389: Internship

INTERNSHIP: PLSC & LARC 389

The Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture internship courses,
LARC389 and PLSC389, are offered in fall semester. Permission to enroll in either
course requires the proposed internship experience be approved by the department’s
internship coordinator and that the company, organization or individual offering the
internship to the student formally acknowledge this by completing the department’s
Internship Offer form. Both steps in the approval process need to be completed, in
order just mentioned, before the student begins their internship. Permission to
enroll in PLSC389 or LARC389 is granted once the Internship Offer form is
received by the department’s Internship coordinator from the student’s internship
supervisor or other company official. The Permission Request and Internship Offer
forms can be found in the Getting Permission tab below. Work experiences done
without prior approval are ineligible for LARC389 or PLSC389 academic credit.

Both LARC389 and PLSC389 are in-person courses that meet jointly over the course of
the fall semester. Advanced preparatory work is required for the course in
the form weekly narratives that summarize activities that occur as part of the
student’s internship experience. The weekly narratives are to be included as part of an
Internship Journal that will be due early in fall semester.
