Guy L. Moore ’80 and Lynn P. Moore ’77 received the Distinguished Alumni Award

for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

at the 14th Annual Alumni Association Awards Gala on September 30, 2016.

For the past 30 years, horticulture graduates Guy and Lynn Moore have been committed alumni operating Larriland Farm, a direct-market, pick-your-own farm in Woodbine, MD.

Guy served as president of the Maryland Vegetable Growers Association for over 20 years.  Lynn has earned a spot on the Maryland State Horticultural Society’s executive committee and currently serves as its secretary.

Together, they have hosted countless University of Maryland programs on topics ranging from horticulture production and food safety to designing a petting zoo.

Lynn has been a supporter of regional educational programs serving on longstanding advisory committees to funnel growers’ needs to U.S. Department of Agriculture researchers at Beltsville, MD and Kearneysville, WV.  These have resulted in collaborative efforts between USDA, University of Maryland and Penn State University.

Guy has served as AGNR’s citizen representative on the Council for Agriculture Research Extension and Teaching (CARET).  In this position, he is a frequent visitor to both College Park and Capitol Hill.
