Walsh & Beaulieu Lab

The lab conducts research in sustainable fruit production and extension programs in the food safety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Detailed information on each of these broad topics is found on the web pages below.

The program has received a variety of grant support during the past decade.  Much of this support has come from the US Department of Agriculture in the Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI) and also the Specialty Crop Block Grant program (SCBG) with funding awarded to the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

If you are interested on information on GAPs training or frequently asked questions about food safety, that information is found on the Walsh and Pahl lab extension food safety page.

Through his appointment in the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station Dr. Walsh participates in two regional projects that underpin these two broad topics.  They are:

NE-1336 Improving Quality and Reducing Losses in Specialty Fruit Crops through Storage Technologies

NC-140 Improving Economic and Environmental Sustainability in Tree Fruit Production through Changes in Rootstock Use
